WWE Survivor Series 11/18/2007

ECW Championship – Triple Threat Match: CM Punk [C] beat The Miz and John Morrison when he pinned Miz after the Go2Sleep to retain.
This was a great match! They pulled off a ton of innovative looking maneuvers, including a awesome 3-way spot where Punk Franken-Steinered Morrison off the top rope and Miz caught Morrison in a powerbomb! A spot Punk did in ROH before if I’m not mistaken. The only downside being they had to go the route of having 2 guys isolated in the ring with the third knocked out outside. Great way to kick off the PPV.
Match Rating: ***1/2

Torrie Wilson, Michelle McCool, Kelly Kelly, Maria & Mickie James beat “The Glamazon” Beth Phoenix, Layla, Jillian Hall, Victoria & Melina when Mickie pinned Melina after a spinning back kick.

Melina actually botched her split-legged ring entrance, and laughed it off before trying again and getting it right! Interestingly enough, the heels are wearing red and black while the face team is in blak and white. Short match, but everyone got some time in and it probably helped since they kept a quick pace and nobody really looked bad here. Mickie’s new kiss ‘n’ kick finisher is sweet too.
Match Rating: **1/2

World Tag Team Championship: Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch [C] beat Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes when Murdoch pinned Rhodes with a modified sunset flip to retain.

Decent tag match, and a good showing for Rhodes I’d say. Good that they didn’t win the belts on the first try, cause it looks like they are going to continue with the mentor role for Holly with Rhodes.

Survivor Series Match: Ken Kennedy, Finlay, Big Daddy V, MVP & Umaga VS Kane, Rey Mysterio, Jeff Hardy & Triple H
- Big Daddy V pinned Kane with an elbow drop.
- Umaga pinned Rey Mysterio with the Samoan Spike.
- Jeff Hardy pinned MVP with the Twist of Fate.
- Triple H pinned Kennedy after V accidentally drop the elbow on him.
- Triple H pinned Big Daddy V after a double DDT with Jeff Hardy.
- Triple H pinned Finlay with the Pedigree.
- Jeff Hardy pinned Umaga with the Swanton after a Pedigree.
Sole Survivors: Triple H & Jeff Hardy
Matt Hardy is selling the leg injury, so it’s five on four tonight. Too bad they couldn’t think to elevate someone by adding them to this match. Many picked this as the match of the night, but I thought it could have been better.

The Great Khali beat Hornswoggle by disqualification

Fans were chanting for Shaq to get in the ring to face Khali! Doesn’t happen though. Hosnswaggle sprays green mist in face of Khali’s translator before getting a big shillelagh out from under the ring to try to use on Khali, but Khali swats it away and slaps Hornswaggle like a fly before motioning for his vice grip, but Finlay runs in to make the save! He whacks Khali with the shillelagh multiple times and gives him a big low blow as the crowd goes nuts for him making the save for Hornswoggle!
Match Rating: DUD, but nice ending bit.

WWE Championship: Randy Orton [C] beat Shawn Michaels with the RKO

Not only did Shawn do the Sharpshooter, but he also did the Crippler Crossface! Heck, he even did an ankle-lock! It was mostly a technical match with HBK using multiple submissions we’ve never seen him do before to try to win the match, and had multiple chances to hit Sweet Chin Music but couldn’t due to the stipulation he’d be disqualified and would never get another title match. In the end it was the stipulation that worked against HBK as he hesitated from hitting Sweet Chin Music, giving Orton the opening to hit the RKO for the win. Orton tried to force HBK to admit he was the better man that night, but HBK gives him Sweet Chin Music instead since the match is now over.
Match Rating: ***1/2

World Heavyweight Championship – Hell in the Cell: Batista [C] beat the Undertaker after Edge gave ‘Taker a con-chairto on the steel steps

Great match with the standard buckets of blood spilled by both men and the use of plunder, ruined by the Edge run in costing ‘Taker the match. Cheap way to protect both guys and keep the belt on Batista I guess.
Match Rating: ***1/2

Overall:
Despite the bad on paper looking card, the PPV was really strong from start to finish. The 3 world title matches were great and the elimination match wasn’t all HHH (almost). We didn’t really get a Montreal Screwjob either, depending on what you thought of Edge’s run in at the end of the main.
